NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Education, Delhi has announced winter break for all government schools in the national capital from January 1 to 15. In an effort to help students enhance their academic performance, the directorate has also announced remedial classes for those studying in Classes 9 to 12 for ten days during the Delhi school winter vacation.
The directorate instructed teachers to mandatorily teach English, science and maths subjects daily for Classes 9 to 11. The remedial classes for Class 10 and Class 12 students, on the other hand, will focus on revising and practicing the pre-board question papers. The subject teachers have also been directed to guide the students how to attempt the question paper properly.
The DoE has asked the school principals to prepare the time table for the remedial classes before the winter holidays commences and to ensure that the duration of one period is not less than an hour. The copy of the time table has to be submitted to the concerned DDE (Zone) well in advance, it added.
All students who will be attending the remedial classes have been asked to come to schools wearing proper uniforms. The remedial classes will be conducted by guest teachers or contract teachers.
“Students and their parents must be informed about these classes in advance in the morning/evening assembly, through SMC meetings, notes in the student's diaries and mass SMS facility etc. HoS must ensure that all the students attend these classes,” the directorate said.
