Woxsen University appoints Uma Ananda as vice-chancellor

Woxsen University said, “Her appointment marks a historic milestone, as she becomes the first international woman Vice Chancellor in India.”
NEW DELHI: Woxsen University has appointed Uma Ananda, a Venezuelan academician and diplomat as its new vice-chancellor. She is also the first international woman to become vice-chancellor in India.
The appointment of Ananda will help Woxsen University in its mission to nurture future-ready leaders with innovative thinking and a global outlook. Under her leadership, the university will strengthen its stand as a hub for academic excellence and interdisciplinary learning, the university said in an official statement.
Ananda did her master degree from University of Cambridge and completed PhD from University Rey Juan Carlos in Spain.
“Over the past 25 years, she has served as a diplomat and professor across Latin America and Europe, broadening her expertise and global perspective. Her multifaceted career demonstrates her dedication to building bridges between cultures and advancing education on a global scale,” the university said.

Taking charge as Woxen University VC, Ananda said: “I am proud to join Woxsen University. With a background in international relations, development Studies, Democratic Governance and the Arts, I bring to Woxsen University the passion for learning, teaching and making students grow to transform India into a global era of knowledge.”
Raul V Rodruguez, vice-president of Woxsen University, expressed confidence in Ananda’s leadership and guidance, which will increase its efforts in adapting global perspective, innovative thinking, and a commitment to academic excellence.
The university further added by saying that Ananda’s vision aligns with its idea of pushing the frontiers of knowledge and empowering students to excel in an interconnected world.
