NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today has adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by medical aspirants challenging the validity of EWS and OBC reservation in NEET PG counselling 2021 till November 16. Meanwhile, students have flooded Twitter with memes and sought clarity on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET-PG) counselling dates.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on October 25 put a hold on counselling and informed students that the NEET PG counselling 2021 will resume after the clarifications are sought.

The apex court will now hear the petition challenging 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) under All India Quota (AIQ) on November 16. The NEET PG counselling is, therefore, expected to begin soon after the court issues an order.

Candidates expressed their disappointment over the delay in the NEET PG counselling process using #reservationfreeneetpg and #alldoctorsareequal and Twitter memes. Some also raised concerns about the reservation of seats.

A medical aspirant said, “Do u feel the pain? Maybe u don’t coz u haven’t put ur blood sweat and tear in an examination like us (neet pg 2021) !!! We want merit-based counselling!!! Enough with reservations #reservationfreeneetpg #alldoctorsareequal.”

Another candidate said, “2020 wasted. 2021 wasted as delayed NEET PG and late counselling. Future seems blurred. #reservationfreeneetpg.”

A student shared a meme and said, “OUR FATE IN HAND OF RESEVATION? 64% resevation in neetpg is a very sensitive case, kindly intervene as soon as possible. The talent /merit of our country lost hope in every seconds. #reservationfreeneetpg.”

“I know candidates from reserved categories who can afford a private seat in counselling.I am general category and i can only afford a government college.Worked hard for NEET PG &secured a good rank for govt seat but it might all go to waste #reservationfreeneetpg #alldocsequal,” a student said.

Another student said, “This year NEETPG exam, I got good marks (568/800) and I am awaiting eagerly to pursue my medical post-graduation study this year. And now, without this online registration, I am not able to participate in our state PG medical counselling.”

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has directed NTA to declare the NEET result 2021 and said that it will examine the two students' grievance in detail later.
