Alliance University launches master of performing arts with 60 seats
Applicants must have a recognised degree with a minimum of eight years of work experience along with relevant examination certifications.

NEW DELHI : The Alliance University (AU), has launched a two-year master’s programme in performing arts designed to equip students with both artistic and managerial skills. Admissions for the master’s degree programme is ongoing, offering 60 seats for participation.
The new programme will include topics related to philosophy, tradition, values, art, science, culture, and religions of India-contributing to holistic development in all areas, the AU statement said.
To apply for the programme, applicants must have an undergraduate degree or its equivalent alongside a minimum of eight years of professional experience in dance. Or, the candidate must have a recognized graduate degree with relevant examination certifications.
As per the AU official statement, students applying for the programme will have the flexibility to choose elective options in classical dance, including Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Carnatic Vocal.

The curriculum of the new programme is mainly designed to train students to master the business aspects of art management and legal frameworks relevant to the industry.
Participating students will also develop media and communication skills, enabling them to create promotional materials and excel in public speaking and digital media. The programme focuses on promoting wellness, and effective stress management techniques.
The programme aims to offer its students foundational training in lighting, makeup, and stage production, empowering them to become self-reliant artists, the AU statement adds.
The master’s programme will collaborate with renowned cultural festivals, including the Surya Festival, Nishagandhi Festival, Konark Festival, and Khajuraho Festival of Dances, offering students valuable exposure and networking opportunities.
The university also offers a one-year diploma in performing arts since 2012, making it the first private institution in South India to provide this qualification. Currently, 44 students are enrolled in the diploma course, the AU statement said.
Sruthy Chandrasekhar, the head of the Alliance School of Performing, Visual and Creative Arts, while addressing the need for the programme said: “Our master of performing arts programme addresses these challenges by equipping students with essential artistic skills and tools for successful careers. Students will learn to promote the arts in diverse contexts through collaborations with international universities that showcase Indian performing arts, while also benefiting from international dance programmes at the university that ensure a curriculum meeting global standards.”
