No Class 10 board exams from next year; SEBA, AHSEC will be replaced by one board: Assam CM

The decision was taken by the state in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Board examination will not be conducted for Class 10 from next year. “Matric exams will be held only at the school level. This is being done as per the New Education Policy. A new board will also come up soon. But the employees employed for SEBA will not lose their job,” the chief minister said.
Class 10 exams were conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and Class 12 board exams were held by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). The two state boards will now be merged together, he said.
“The pass and fail system will continue for Class 10 students. However, the board exams will only be conducted for Class 12. Students appearing in Class 10 won’t be required to take admission in Class 11 as promotion to the next class will be a continuous process.
The announcement came during the Assam HS result 2023 declaration. This year, a total of 4,22,174 students appeared in Class 10 exams and recorded a pass percentage of 72.69%. The AHSEC today announced the Class 12th results 2023. The overall pass percentage of arts stream was 70.12%, science students recorded 84.96% and commerce was at 79.57%.
