Board Exams 2021: Rajnath Singh to chair meeting on Class 12 exams

Attempt NowNEW DELHI : Union defence minister, Rajnath Singh will chair a high-level meeting tomorrow with all state and UT’s education ministers. In this meeting, the ministers will discuss the upcoming Class 12 board examination and professional course entrance exams.

The meeting will be held in the presence of Union Minister for Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Union Minister for Women and Child, Smriti Zubin Irani and Union Minister Information and Broadcasting, Shri Prakash Javadekar.
Union Education Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has written a letter to States/UTs regarding the COVID-19 pandemic impacts on the Education sector, particularly the board exams and entrance exams.
He said in the letter that keeping in mind the safety and security of the students and the teachers, the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education and CBSE are exploring options regarding the conduct of examinations. The Department of Higher Education is also considering the finalization of exam dates for institutions of higher learning and conducting it.
During the current situation of COVID-19, most of the boards including CBSE and ICSE have cancelled the class 10 board examinations. Class 12 board exams have been postponed. Only the Bihar board has conducted Class 10 and 12 exams and declared the results successfully.
Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Telangana boards also have announced their class 10 results without conducting the exams.
National Testing Agency (NTA) and other National exam conducting institutions have also postponed their respective entrance exams like JEE Main.
“As the conduct of Class XII examinations impacts upon State Board exams and other entrance exams across the country, and to reduce uncertainty among students it is desirable that a considered decision-based on inputs of different State Governments and UT Administrations is taken about Class XII CBSE examinations in the interest of all the students across the country,” says, PIB press release.
On May 17, education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ also held a meeting with all states’ education Secretaries for reviewing the online education and implementation of the New Education Policy in the country.
