BSSC Second Inter-Level Exam 2023: Candidates can pay the exam fee by January 13, 2026, and submit applications by January 15, with final form submission by January 18.
The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) has revised the application process for the BSSC second inter-level combined competitive exam 2023, increasing total vacancies to 24,492. As per the official notice, the commission has added 1,317 posts to the 23,175 vacancies earlier announced.
Eligible candidates can submit their BSSC second inter-level exam fee by January 13, 2026 through the official website at bssc.bihar.gov.in. Applications can be submitted till January 15, 2026, with final form submission by January 18, 2026. The examination fee remains Rs 100 per candidate.
The BSSC second inter-level exam notification was issued in August 2023. The initial application process ran till November 2023, during which the commission received approximately 26 lakh applications. Despite this volume, the commission has not announced the examination date.
According to the commission’s own rules, a preliminary exam will be conducted if applications exceed 40,000. In practice, the number of applications is more than 60 times that threshold, yet no schedule has been issued.
“In accordance with the Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conduct Rules-2010, if more than 40,000 (forty thousand) applications are received, a preliminary examination will be conducted. If a large number of applications are received, the preliminary examination may be held in more than one phase. In the case of examinations conducted in multiple phases, the results will be prepared using a normalisation process,” the official notification said.

BSSC Recruitment 2023: Repeated delays create uncertainty for aspirants
BSSC states that the preliminary test will be an objective type, and candidates equal to five times the number of vacancies in each category will qualify for the main examination. A separate notification will follow for the main examination, including post preferences.
Repeated extensions and the absence of an examination schedule have created uncertainty for aspirants. Those who applied more than two years ago continue to wait without a clear timeline, while the commission keeps increasing vacancies and extending deadlines. The prolonged delay affects candidates' preparation and career planning.
As per several reports, the second inter-level exam is being conducted nearly nine years after the first inter-level recruitment, whose advertisement was issued in 2014 and whose results took seven years. Candidates are awaiting clarity on when the recruitment process will be completed.
