Download NowNEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully concluded the Class 12 Mathematics exam today, March 9. The CBSE Class 12 Maths paper was moderate to challenging as per student reactions and analysis by teachers. The exam was held for a duration of 3 hours from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm across the country.

The CBSE Class 12 Maths board exam was of 100 marks in total, of which 80 marks were for the written examination and 20 marks for internal assessments.
According to Ajit Pratap Singh, PGT Maths, KIIT World School, Gurugram, "The CBSE Class 12 Maths question paper was tougher than the CBSE Class 12 sample question paper. Question paper was also lengthy and time-consuming".
CBSE Class 12 Maths section-wise analysis
The CBSE 12th Maths question paper was divided into five sections-A, B, C, D and E. In Section A, question from 1 to 18 were multiple choice questions (MCQs) and questions from 19 and 20 were Assertion-Reason based questions of 1 mark each. In Section B, questions from 21 to 25 were very short answer (VSA) type questions, carrying 2 marks each.
In Section C, questions from 26 to 31 were short answer (SA) type questions, carrying 3 marks each. In Section D, questions 32 to 35 were long answer (LA) type questions carrying 5 marks each. "The CBSE Class 12 Maths question paper was also lengthy and time-consuming. Most students felt “Section-D” was difficult and time-consuming", Singh said.

In Section E, questions from 36 to 38 were case study based questions carrying 4 marks each. There was no overall choice given to the students.
However, an internal choice was given in 2 questions in Section B, 3 questions in Section C, 2 questions in Section D and 2 questions in Section E. Students who appeared for CBSE 12th Maths exam felt that the Integration questions tested the in depth knowledge.
The questions on the exam ranged in difficulty from moderate to challenging. "Most of the questions required students to use critical thinking and application. Questions based on case studies was easy. Overall a challenging to moderate paper as far as the difficulty level is concerned, with a balanced approach for all kinds of students", Singh added.
Alka Kapur, Principal Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh said, "CBSE Maths paper has well-crafted problems at a moderate difficulty level. Students may encounter challenges in certain areas, especially with the difficult multiple-choice questions in Section A and the Maxima and Minima case study. Still, Section D turned out to be really simple. As far as teachers are concerned, the paper offered a good balance between difficulty and opportunity for both success and growth."
