Check NowNEW DELHI: Robotics and artificial intelligence subjects in Classes 11-12, increase in competency-based questions in board exams, and revision of curriculum are among the major changes to be introduced by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), as per a Times of India report.
Starting from the 2025-26 academic session, there will reportedly be a 25% increase in the competency-based questions in the ISC and ICSE board exams. This will be further hiked to 40% in 2026 and 50% in 2027 board exams.
The revision of curriculum will be made only a year later, in the 2026-27 academic session, on the lines of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), reported TOI.
As part of the assessment overhaul, the council will also implement a comprehensive progress card that offers a well-rounded evaluation of students' progress toward achieving their learning outcomes, according to the report.

“This approach, integrating humanities, arts, and STEM subjects, has shown positive outcomes, including increased creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and higher-order thinking capacities,” CISCE secretary Joseph Emmanuel was quoted as saying.
In April this year, CISCE notified the revised syllabus for the academic year 2025-26 and introduced additional vocational subjects including robotics and AI.
