Faculty members from medical colleges to serve as assessors for inspection: NMC

Assessors may need to travel within 24 hours of being notified of the travel details in order to preserve the element of surprise, NMC said.
NEW DELHI: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), National Medical Commission (NMC) will shortly begin the inspection process for various applications for the academic year 2024–2025. Faculty members from different medical colleges will serve as assessors for the purpose of completing the said inspection.
"Since, NMC will be conducting surprise inspections to various medical colleges the faculty members of your esteemed Medical College will be engaged in the inspection of other Medical Colleges", NMC notice said.
Assessors may need to travel within 24 hours of being notified of the travel details in order to preserve the element of surprise. The travel details will be provided to the Assessors 48 hours before the inspection date.
The commission has asked the medical colleges to cooperate with the faculty members who are engaged in this activity by granting them leave for the days they are required to travel, to conduct smooth and hassle-free inspection process.
"This Commission appreciates the cooperation and contributions extended by medical fraternity towards improving the medical education system in India", NMC added.

According to NMC, the inspection of medical colleges is a crucial activity for ensuring and enhancing the quality of medical education in India.
Previously, NMC has announced that from 2024-25 academic session, both government and private medical colleges in the country will be rated based on the quality of education they provide. The commission had signed an MoU with the Quality Council of India (QCI) for assessing ratings of the medical institutions in July.
