NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has commenced the registration process for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2024 session today, October 28. Eligible candidates can apply for FMGE December 2024 session through the official website, natboard.edu.in.

As per the schedule, candidates will be able to register for FMGE December 2024 examination up to 11:55 pm on November 18. The FMGE December session examination will be held on January 12 and the results will be announced by February 12, 2025.
“The candidate should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognised qualification for enrolment as medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated,” the official notification read.
FMGE December 2024: Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the FMGE December 2024 , candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification : Candidates must hold a primary medical qualification that is recognized by the Indian Medical Council (IMC) or the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Recognition of Medical Degree : The medical degree must be from a college or university included in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) at the time of their admission.

Completion of Internship : Candidates should have completed a one-year internship or are expected to complete it before the exam date.

FMGE exam pattern
The FMGE exam comprises two parts- each part carrying a total of 150 questions. The question paper consists of overall 300 multiple-choice questions. There will be no negative marking. A candidate will be declared as passed if he or she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination.
FMGE is held to ensure that foreign medical graduates possess the necessary knowledge and skills to practice medicine in the country. It serves as a licensing requirement, assessing the competence of graduates from foreign medical schools. By maintaining high standards in healthcare, the FMGE aims to protect patient safety and facilitate the integration of foreign graduates into the Indian medical system.
