As per GATE 2025 exam pattern, each paper will comprise a section on general aptitude and another on the subject selected by the candidate. An aspirant can appear for a maximum of two-paper combinations in GATE this year.
As per the GATE 2025 marking scheme released by IIT Roorkee , each question in the GATE 2025 question paper will carry either one or two marks.
GATE 2025 negative marking
There will be negative marking in GATE exam 2025. Know how marks will be deducted below.
- There will be negative marking for a wrong answer chosen in a multiple-choice question (MCQ). For a 1-mark MCQ, one-third mark will be deducted for an incorrect response.
- For a 2-mark MCQ, two-third marks will be deducted for a wrong answer submitted by the candidate.
- There will not be any negative marking for wrong answers to MSQ and NAT questions.
- There is no partial marking for any question.
