Try NowNEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has released the detailed paper structure of GATE humanities and social science (XH) paper. As per the official release, GATE XH paper will have general aptitude (GA) and reasoning & comprehension (B1) as compulsory sections and one section to be selected from a list of six subjects. Candidates can select any one paper from economics, english, linguistics, philosophy, psychology and sociology depending on their qualifying degree.

GATE XH Paper Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are in their pre-final or final year of undergraduate degree program are eligible to apply for the GATE XH paper. As the optional papers are from arts and commerce background, the GATE 2021 has opened opportunities for non-science students. Candidates having passed or studying the course in any optional subject can apply for GATE 2021 XH paper. However, the selection of optional subject has to be done as per their qualifying degree specialisation. There is no criteria of age for appearing in the GATE 2021 XH paper.
GATE 2021 Schedule
The IIT Bombay will conduct GATE 2021 exam on February 5, 6, 7 and 12, 13, 14. The total number of exam days have been increased for this year keeping in view the prevailing covid-19 pandemic and safety of students. Exams will be conducted in two slots, morning and evening on each day.
Candidates can appear for two papers in GATE 2021
Candidates have been provided the option of appearing in maximum two papers in GATE 2021 to promote interdisciplinary studies and research. The second paper must be from the given set of combinations available for this year, based on the availability of infrastructure and date. The details about subject combinations which can be selected will be informed in the official examination brochure.
GATE 2021 Registration
The IIT Bombay has not announced GATE 2021 form fill up date as of now. Candidates can expect the GATE 2021 application form from August last week.
GATE Humanities Syllabus
The syllabus of GATE humanities (XH) paper will be released on the official information brochure. GATE humanities syllabus can be expected to be the standard undergraduate topics of the concerned papers.
