IIM Calcutta launches certificate programme on storytelling for leadership communication

Mid-to-senior level executives can apply for the 20-week course by August 20.
Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta or IIMC) has launched a new certificate programme titled “Mastering Storytelling for Leadership Communication and Influence”. The 20-week programme is designed for mid-level and senior executives in marketing, consulting, public speaking, human resources, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and other strategic functions.
The application deadline for the IIM Calcutta course is August 20, 2025. The classes will begin on September 30. Participants will be expected to commit four to six hours per week towards the online programme.
The IIM Calcutta certificate programme will combine pre-recorded lectures from the institute faculty, one live faculty session, and four “expert-led masterclasses”. Participants will engage in cohort discussions and a faculty-led capstone project, along with practical case studies from brands such as Nike, Dubar and Netflix.

IIM Calcutta programme application
Interested professionals can apply for the leadership communication programme on iimcalcutta.emeritus.org. A graduate or diploma holder (in the 10+2+3 format) in any discipline is eligible to apply for the course. Applications are also accepted from postgraduates. The programme fee is Rs 1,50,000, with additional GST. Candidates can avail an Independence Day enrolment benefit with a code “SL080925CERT6437”.
Speaking on the new programme, Nandita Roy, assistant professor, business ethics and communication group at IIM Calcutta, said: “Storytelling can shape strategy, build inclusive cultures, and create trust across diverse stakeholder groups. At IIM Calcutta, this programme is designed to help leaders simplify complexity and build powerful narratives that connect, inspire, and move people to action.”

As per an official statement, the primary objectives of the “Mastering Storytelling for Leadership Communication and Influence” programme at IIMC are:
- Storytelling strategies like Freytag’s Pyramid and the Monomyth
- Using artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI for “data-driven storytelling”
- Applying techniques in business, branding, and digital media
- Public speaking and executive communication abilities
Upon completion of the storytelling programme with a minimum pass percentage of 65%, participants will receive a certificate from IIM Calcutta.
