IIM Sambalpur exits CAP 2025; to independently conduct MBA admissions

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur has introduced a change in its admission process. Starting from the academic year 2025-2026, the institute will independently manage admissions for its flagship MBA programme, marking its exit from Common admission process (CAP) 2025. The same process will also apply to the newly launched MBA in Business Analytics programme, which includes an option for a dual degree from an international institution.
According to an official press release, the new system will unify the admissions for both the MBA and MBA in Business Analytics programmes. The IIM Sambalpur will also offer candidates the flexibility to attend personal interviews either in person or online, as per candidate’s convenience.

Flexible interview options: Applicants can choose to attend interviews online or in person at the IIM Sambalpur campus or its Delhi campus, ensuring greater convenience.
Unified Admissions: A single admission process will be used for both the flagship MBA and the new MBA in Business Analytics programs, simplifying the procedure for shortlisted candidates.
Direct Interactions: One-on-one interactions between the institute and candidates enable a more effective and personalized evaluation.
IIM Sambalpur MBA admission 2025 criteria
Admissions at IIM Sambalpur are based on a merit score calculated using CAT scores, academic record, work experience, gender diversity and PI performance. The final score comprises 75 points for the adjusted Pre-PI score and 25 points for the PI score, totaling 100. Candidates must meet the minimum PI score set by the institute to qualify for the merit list.

IIM Sambalpur admission schedule 2025
Shortlisted students will be notified via email by January 10, 2025. Candidates are required to register on the portal by January 25, 2025. During registration, candidates will need to verify and update their details, upload required documents, and select their preferred mode of interview in case of further shortlisting.
Interview schedule
A second list of shortlisted candidates for personal interviews will be announced, allowing them to choose their preferred interview slots. Personal interviews will take place between March 3, 2025, and April 18, 2025. Online interviews will run throughout this period, while offline interview dates for the Sambalpur and Delhi campuses will be announced separately.
Merit list announcement
The IIM Sambalpur MBA admission 2025 first merit list is expected to be out on May 10, 2025. Additional lists, if required, will be out until all seats are filled.
IIM Sambalpur Admission 2025: MBA offer acceptance policy
Candidates who receive an admission offer from IIM Sambalpur are required to confirm their acceptance by submitting an amount of Rs 50,000 and the offer acceptance form through the institute's admission portal within the specified deadline. As per IIM Sambalpur, failure to complete this process on time will result in the offer being forfeited. For candidates who join the programme, this amount will be adjusted against the term-1 fees.
