In a first, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham introduces MSc in Yoga and Cognitive Science

NEW DELHI: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has announced India's first postgraduate programme in yoga and cognitive science. Amrita Mind Brain Center will be offering MSc in Yoga and Cognitive Science. The registration process for the programme has already started and eligible candidates can apply at amrita.edu. Classes will begin in September.

According to the eligibility criteria, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in any science discipline, such as mathematics, physics, biology, biotechnology, psychology, engineering, or medicine. Prior knowledge in yoga, neuroscience, or computer science will be preferred. The application fee for the programme is Rs 750.

The admission process for the MSc in Yoga and Cognitive Science programme involves several stages. Candidates will have to qualify the undergraduate exam and shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview process for assessment of their aptitude, passion, and alignment with the programme's objectives.

Upon successful completion of the interview, candidates will be granted provisional admission to the programme. Candidates will have to update UG scores which will be verified. After confirmation of admission, students will have to accept the seat and pay the fee.

“The M.Sc. in Yoga and Cognitive Science has been meticulously crafted to explore the intricate connections between the mind, body, and consciousness, fostering a profound understanding of human behavior and cognition. The four-semester curriculum encompasses a diverse range of unique and cutting-edge subjects, including the study of Yoga philosophy and practices, the impact of Sanskrit language on cognition, human anatomy and physiology, and cognitive science and neuroscience,” said the university in an official statement.
