NEW DELHI : The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 session 2 shift 2 exam held today was moderate as per reactions from students and experts. The afternoon shift of today’s JEE Mains 2023 exam was conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. Questions covered almost all chapters of Class 11 and 12 and it was a “balanced” paper. Today’s mathematics paper was moderate while physics was easy. The overall difficulty level of today’s JEE Main 2023 paper 1 was moderate, according to Ramesh Batlish, managing partner and head, FIITJEE Noida Centres.

Mathematics
- Moderate Level.
- Weightage was given to chapters of Algebra and Calculus.
- In calculus questions asked from limits amd continuity, application of derivative, definite integrals, area under curves, and differential equations.
- In algebra, matrices, permutation and combination, vectors, 3D geometry had more than one question, questions were also asked from progressions, statistics, binomial theorem, mathematical reasoning and probability.
- In coordinate geometry- parabola, ellipse and hyperbola had mixed concept questions. Both MCQs and numerical-based questions required lengthy calculations. This section was also tricky as per few students.
Physics
- Easy level.
- Questions asked from error analysis, kinematics, laws of motion, work, power and energy, heat and thermodynamics – 2 questions, SHM, current electricity, magnetism, gravitation - 2 questions, modern physics, semiconductors and wave optics.
- Numerical-based questions were reported as easy to moderate. This section was balanced.
Chemistry
- Easy to moderate level.
- Inorganic and organic Chemistry were asked equally and had more questions as compared to physical chemistry. The numerical section had questions from chemical kinetics, electrochemistry, Ionic equilibrium.
- Questions were also asked from surface chemistry and solid state. There were mixed concept questions from amines, alcohols, ethers and phenols, biomolecules, polymers, aryl and alkyl halides in organic chemistry.
- Inorganic chemistry had questions from s-block, p-block, chemical bonding, coordination compounds and metallurgy. Fact-based questions were asked in this section.
