The clarification comes in wake of the various requests filed by the medical colleges for the recognition of MD, MS, and other PG programmes, according to the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB).
Referring to the PGMER guidelines, the medical board clarified that the postgraduate medical courses, once approved, are automatically recognised, and the seats approved for those courses are also considered recognised seats for the purpose of awarding degrees.

The medical colleges are no longer required to send recognition proposals, however, they must submit the annual disclosure report along with the fee structure for each PG medical course, as per the chapter 2 of the Maintenance of Standards of Medical Education Regulations.
Recently, NMC asked the medical colleges to disclose fee structure and stipend paid to interns on their official websites by 5th of every month. In case of non-compliance of rules, the commission warned the institutes of show-cause notices, imposition of financial penalties, withdrawal of course recognition, and suspension of admissions.
