WBJEE Result Date 2024: How is merit list prepared? Tie-breaking rule for general merit rank

NEW DELHI: West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board is expected to declare the WBJEE 2024 results 2024 soon for candidates seeking admission to engineering, agriculture and pharmacy courses. As per the latest updates, the WBJEE results 2024 will be declared after May 31 or in the first week of June at the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in.
The WBJEE result link 2024 will be hosted on the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in, wbjeeb.in, and wbresults.nic.in. Candidates will have to key in their application number and password generated during the registration process to check and download WBJEE score card.
The board will issue two merit lists based on the papers or subjects appeared in the exam and the corresponding marks scored - general merit list and pharmacy merit list. Moreover, the board will also announce category ranks based on the details submitted during the registration process.
WBJEE General Merit Rank
The WBJEEB will issue a general merit rank (GMR) based on the total scores obtained in WBJEE paper 1 and paper 2 taken together. The ranks will be allotted to candidates after applying the tie-breaking rule in case more than two candidates obtain the same marks.
Along with this, the board will also indicate the reserved category merit positions - SC rank, ST rank, OBC-A rank, OBC-B rank, EWS rank, PWD rank, TFW rank, as applicable. Admission to all engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy courses offered in Jadavpur University will be on the basis of GMR.
WBJEE Pharmacy Merit Rank
The WBJEE pharmacy merit rank or PMR will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in paper 2, chemistry and physics, only. The reserved category merit positions and tie-breaking rule will be followed in the same manner for PMR rank preparation as well.

WBJEE tie-breaking rule
The West Bengal JEE Board will follow the method given below to break the tie in marks between two or more candidates while preparing GMR.
- Less negative marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry taken together.
- More positive marks in mathematics and physics taken together.
- More positive marks in mathematics and chemistry taken together.
- Less negative marks in mathematics and physics taken together.
- Less negative marks in mathematics and chemistry taken together.
- More positive marks in mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
- More positive marks in physics for only the 2 marks questions
- More positive marks in chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
- Less negative marks in mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
- Less negative marks in physics for only the 2 marks questions.
- Less negative marks in chemistry for only the 2 marks questions.
- If tie persists, older candidate will be given preference based on date of birth proof.
