NEW DELHI: The classes for the new batch of PGDM courses will begin from August 10, while those for other technical courses including BTech have been pushed to October 15, as per the revised academic calendar issued by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The AICTE has revised the academic calendar for the year 2020-21 after the UGC issued revised guidelines on examination and academic calendar for all universities, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The council has asked all its approved institutions to follow the revised UGC guidelines on examination. UGC earlier this week issued revised exam-related guidelines as per the directive of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), allowing universities to conduct their final year examination by September end.
The AICTE has asked institutions which have already started classes, as per earlier AICTE calendar, to either postpone the classes or conduct special classes for the students who would be required to appear in final year examination of their graduation or diploma.
As per the revised calendar, classes for existing batches in technical courses other than PGDM will commence from August 17, while PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) classes for the existing batch would begin from July 15.
Existing batches and online classes
AICTE has asked institutions to begin classes in online, offline mode or in blended mode (online+offline). The circular reads: The classes may be started in online/offline (classroom) or blended mode (online+offline) following the prescribed protocols/guidelines related to COVID-19.”
It has also stated that the academic calendar may further change depending on the condition existing due to COVID-19 pandemic and guidelines issued by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, MHA and Ministry of Human Resource Development.
