CBSE asks schools to integrate AI curriculum into maths, science subjects, conduct workshops

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked its affiliated schools to integrate the concepts of the new Computational Thinking (CT) and Understanding Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum into Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, and Languages learning subjects.
Schools should also introduce AI with age-appropriate exposure to AI fundamentals, applications and ethics for students, CBSE said in an official notification.
“Promote interdisciplinary learning (project-based) to connect CT and AI with everyday experiences. Prepare students for future-ready skills and workplace relevance,” it added.
The board has also asked schools to select the three best presentations or papers from the DLD CT-AI workshop for compilation and national-level assessment by expert committee.

Computational Thinking, Artificial Intelligence
Recently, the board introduced the curriculum on “Computational Thinking and AI” for Classes 3 to 8 for the session 2026-27.

was designed to develop learners’ ability to think logically, approach and solve problems systematically, find patterns and also understand
ethical use of AI
.
“Board has also decided to assign ‘Computational Thinking and Understanding AI’ as the training theme for the current session. This initiative aims to equip teachers with pedagogical strategies to integrate CT and AI concepts across subjects, foster ethical, responsible, and future-ready learning environment in schools,” CBSE said.
Training activities in the schools will be organised on sub-themes to build capacities of the educators, the board said.
‘Integrate CT, AI in curriculum, school culture’
The expected outcomes of the planned workshops include creating a supportive environment for CT and AI learning, integration of CT, AI across the curriculum and school culture, the board added.
The workshops will also empower teachers to design hands-on projects with CT, AI concepts. Students will also be inspired by AI, coding, data science, mathematics, and interdisciplinary projects and the workshops will further train students on the ethical and responsible use of AI, it said.
The workshops will be conducted in an offline mode. Schools will also host expert-led talks on CT and AI for students.
The board will conduct regional workshops or orientation programmes for which the participating fee will be Rs 700. Schools can also nominate teachers for regional workshops.
Teachers attending regional workshops will earn 6 CPD hours under domain 2 of the board conducted Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme.
