CBSE Class 10, 12 theory, practical, project and internal assessment marks break-up out; exam from February 17

CBSE Class 10, 12 Exam 2026: The practical and internal assessments will be held from January 1 to February 14.

Check NowThe Central Board of Secondary Education issued a circular detailing the subject-wise mark distribution of Classes 10, 12 practical, project and internal assessment exams 2025. The CBSE Class 10, 12 practical and assessments will be held from January 1, 2026, to February 14, 2026.

CBSE has clarified that each subject carries a total of 100 marks, divided across theory, practical, project or internal assessment as applicable. Schools have been instructed to complete the conduct of CBSE Class 10, 12 practical, project and internal assessment 2025 within the prescribed timeline.
“To aid and assist the schools in smooth conduct of Practical/Project/Internal Assessment and conduct of Theory Examinations, a list of subjects for Classes X and XII containing the following details is annexed with this circular for information with the thought that schools will read this circular and strictly comply instruction and not make a request later on to correct the mistake committed by them by giving various excuses,” the official circular said.
CBSE Class 10, 12 subject-wise marks, assessment guidelines
The Board noted that schools often report errors while uploading marks. To address this, CBSE has issued a consolidated list of Class 10 and Class 12 subjects outlining theory marks, practical marks, project components, internal assessment and the format of theory answer booklets. The detailed break-up provided in the circular includes
- Class
- Subject code
- Subject name
- Maximum marks (Theory)
- Maximum marks (Practical)
- Maximum marks (Project assessment)
- Maximum marks (Internal assessment)
- Whether an external examiner will be appointed for practical/project assessment
- Whether the Board will provide practical answer books
- Type of answer book to be used in the theory examination
The CBSE Class 10 exams 2026 will be held from February 17 to March 10, while the CBSE Class 12 exams 2026 are scheduled from February 17 to April 9. The board revised the Class 10 timetable after student feedback to ensure adequate preparation time and advised Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 aspirants to provide Class 11 details in the application form to avoid date clashes.
