CBSE 12th English syllabus will cover three sections – reading comprehension; grammar and creative writing skills; and literature textbook and supplementary reading text.
CBSE 12th English marking scheme 2024
The section-wise weightage for CBSE Class 12 English paper 2024 is given below:

Besides, the internal assessment will carry 20 marks including assessment of reading and speaking skills and project work for 10 marks each.
CBSE Board Exam 2024: Class 12 English paper
The section-wise topics and type of questions are as follows:
Section A
- One unseen passage
- One unseen case-based factual passage with verbal/visual inputs like statistical data, charts etc.
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) or Objective Type Questions and Short Answer type Questions will be asked.
Section B
- Notice
- Formal or informal invitation and reply. Letters based on verbal or visual input including application for a job with bio-data or resume. Letters to the editor (giving suggestions or opinion on issues of public interest)
- Article or report writing, descriptive and analytical in nature, based on verbal inputs.
Section C
- One poetry extract from the book Flamingo.
- One prose extract from the book Vistas
- One prose extract out of two from the book Flamingo.
- Short answer type questions (from prose and poetry from the book Flamingo).
- Short answer type questions, from prose (Vistas)
- One long answer type question, from prose or poetry (Flamingo)
- One long answer type question, based on the chapters from the book Vistas.
