New Delhi : The Consortium of NLUs has notified that it will conduct a series of mock tests to acclimatize students with the upcoming CLAT 2020 entrance exam, which is set to be conducted in computer-based, online, centre-based mode. It may be noted that the exam was originally scheduled to be conducted in pen-and-paper mode, but has moved to the online mode given the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

For the undergraduate programme, there will be five CLAT UG 2020 mock tests, with the first mock test scheduled for July 17. Meanwhile, for CLAT PG three mock tests have been planned, with the first of the series slated for July 24.
The consortium will release additional information regarding the CLAT mock tests 2020 on July 15.

In related news, candidates who have registered for the CLAT 2020 exam but are yet to pay the exam fee can do so until July 15.
CLAT 2020 online, centre-based exam
The online exam will be conducted on August 22. To ensure social distancing norms and limit the exposure of students and exam officials to COVID-19 infection, the number of CLAT 2020 exam locations have been increased from 67 to 203.
The logic behind the additional locations is it will bring down the number of test takers per exam centre. Also, with increase in the exam centre count, the candidate will now be able to appear in an exam centre near to their staying place. This will bring down travel time and thus chances of exposure.
Apart from these, the consortium has also released a list of exam-safety norms, including sanitization of exam centres, asking students to wear masks and carry sanitizers.

Another national-level exam, AILET 2020 will be conducted in remote-proctored mode. There is now a debate as to which mode is better: online mode or remote-proctored mode .
