Delhi schools to remain closed today amid heavy rainfall, IMD alert

Delhi Rains: All students of Class 6 onwards under DoE, heads of all schools, staff and teachers have been directed to schools as usual.
NEW DELHI: Primary schools in Delhi under the directorate of education and all schools under the municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD) education department will remain closed today, July 11. The decision to keep the schools closed has been made in view of the heavy rainfall and alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) about adverse weather conditions in Delhi.
However, all students of Class 6 onwards under DoE, heads of all schools -- MCD and DoE, staff and teachers have been directed to go to schools as usual. Office work will function normally.
Due to the prediction for moderate to heavy rains in the national capital by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a holiday has been declared on June 11 (Tuesday) for students of Classes Nursery to 5 in all government and government-aided schools under the Directorate of Education (DoE), an official circular added.
“All recognised private schools under Directorate of Education, GNCTD are also advised to follow the above instructions in view of the safety of the students,” it added.
Earlier on Sunday, July 9, chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal had announced a holiday for all schools for July 10.
Several parts of Delhi have been receiving heavy rains since Saturday, July 8.
