Financial assistance of over Rs 1.20 crore given to 1,669 students; 90% PG seats filled: DU VC Yogesh Singh

NEW DELHI: Delhi University conducted its 1270th Executive Council (EC) meeting on Saturday, chaired by Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh. During the meeting, the VC announced that the financial assistance of over Rs 1. 20 crore has been given to 1,669 students under the Financial Support Scheme (FSS).
The university had announced the Financial Aid Scheme in 2022 for economically weaker students. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to economically weaker students through fee waiver. He informed that under the scheme, assistance of Rs 1,20,41,638 has been given to 1669 students.
This also offers students from families with an annual income of Rs 4 lakh or less receive a full fee waiver, while those from families with an annual income between Rs 4 and 8 lakhs receive a 50% fee waiver.
DU PG Admissions 2024: 90% of seats filled in three rounds
DU VC Yogesh Singh provided an update on admissions for the 2024-25 academic year, stating that the process is underway for Postgraduate (PG), BTech, and five-year BA LLB and BBA LLB programs. As per Singh, three rounds of admissions have been completed for these programs. Around 11,000 out of 13,000 seats, or approximately 90%, have been filled.
The first spot round is currently in progress to fill the remaining seats. For the five-year integrated law programs, 95 out of 120 seats have been filled, with the spot round process ongoing for the rest. Additionally, about 200 candidates have been admitted to the BTech program, and the fourth list of admissions will be issued soon.
Amendment in passing and promotion norms
The Committee's recommendations for reviewing passing and promotion norms and rules for students under NEP UGCF-2022 were approved during the EC meeting. Students must obtain at least 28 credits from both semesters for promotion in the next year. However, students representing the University in sports, extra-curricular activities, NCC, or NSS may be exempted. Students can earn a maximum of 26 credits per semester and 52 credits per academic year.
