JMI gets Rs 14.8 crore grant to establish 2 art facilities

Jamia Millia Islamia: The Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, has awarded a grant to JMI to establish labs for “Electric Vehicle research and Cybersecurity training.”
The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has received a Rs 14.8 crore grant to establish 2 state-of-the-art facilities on campus, namely, a “research lab for Electric Vehicles” and a “Cybersecurity training lab”. The grant has been awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, under the Prime Minister’s Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) initiative.
Of the total grant, Rs 9.05 crore has been sanctioned for establishing the “Research Lab for Electric Vehicle,” whose principal investigator (PI) is Ahteshamul Haque from the department of Electrical Engineering at JMI.
The remaining Rs 5.75 crore has been sanctioned for the “Cyber Security Training Lab” whose PI is Shane Kazim Naqvi the director of FTK-Centre for Information Technology (CIT), JMI.
According to the official JMI press release, the initiative marks a crucial step toward India’s national policy of being self-dependent in the field of Electric Vehicles and the cybersecurity ecosystem.

Both the principal investigators thanked the JMI’s vice-chancellor Mazhar Asif, and registrar, Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi, for their valuable support and guidance at every level.
JMI’s vice chancellor Mazhar Asif outlined his vision for the initiative and said: “These two projects play a vital role in advancing our national mission by nurturing indigenous talent in the areas of electric vehicles and cybersecurity. They will provide JMI students and professionals with valuable exposure to cutting-edge technologies, enabling the university to contribute effectively in these two domains at the national level.”
JMI’s registrar, Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi said: “The two innovative and advanced labs, a research lab for electric vehicles and cyber security testing lab shall be established from the grant received”.
The registrar further added that the labs will provide a dynamic platform for learning, collaboration, hands-on training, and utilizing state-of-the-art tools and technologies to solve real-world challenges in these two major areas.
