'Learning with human feel is our mantra': Manish Sisodia

NEW DELHI: Delhi Government is reinventing its online education model for the benefit of students during the lockdown period, the education minister Manish Sisodia announced on Thursday.

To help all the students, Sisodia said, the government will try and eliminate the issue of “digital divide” in accessing the learning opportunities.

According to the Delhi Government’s plan, the teachers will reach out to their students through WhatsApp or regular phone call and give regular updates and assignments.

Elaborating on the government’s plan Sisodia wrote on twitter “Learning with human feel' is the mantra of Delhi Government’s teaching-learning approach,” Teachers will also keep tabs on the well being of children.

Online Classes

For the students from pre-nursery to Students to Class 10 will get regular exercises and feedback from class teachers through Whatsapp. Teachers have been directed to contact the parents through regular calls if a particular student do not have access to smartphone or WhatsApp.

For students of Class 11 and 12 online live classes will be conducted for 12 subjects and follow up through messages and call to solve doubts.

The School management committees will also play an active role in facilitating online learning to the students, Sisodia added.

The Global Education Monitoring Report 2020 indicates that most of the education strategies adopted by governments across the globe are “exacerbating exclusion” among students during the lockdown period.

Due to the huge digital divide and systematic exclusion of students, several education experts and Right To Education Forum has asked the government to declare this year ‘zero academic year’ for students.
