Maharashtra VCs to be held accountable for delay in results: Governor warns universities

NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais said that the vice-chancellors of the state universities in the state will be held accountable for delay in the declaration of results. He also advised the VCs to declare the results of various examinations within the stipulated time limit of 45 days.

The Maharashtra Governor was addressing the meeting of vice-chancellors of traditional, agricultural, health sciences, technological and open universities at Raj Bhavan Mumbai. The meeting was held to review the progress of the National Education Policy (NEP) implementation for the upcoming 2023-24 academic session.

The statement comes in the background of repeated delay in issuing hall ticket, time table and results by the Mumbai universities. He further noted that the “future of students is directly linked to the declaration of results”.

Stating that less than 2 months are left for the beginning of the new academic year, the Governor expressed the hope that Maharashtra would set for the nation the example of the model implementation of the National Education Policy, the official statement read.

“The Governor cautioned that vice chancellors will be held accountable for the delay in declaration of results and dispensation of marksheets,” it said.

"Vice-chancellors and acting VCs of University of Mumbai, SNDT Women’s University, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Shivaji University, Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapith, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University and Dr Homi Bhabha State University were present in the meeting," it added.

Last December, several engineering students were flooding Twitter demanding clarity on hall tickets and requesting the MU university to issue the time table for semester exams. The university did not notify the time table even when five days were left for the commencement of the exam.

Recently the MU semester 6 students were left anxious a day before the exam as they did not receive hall tickets for the exam scheduled to begin on April 12. Many students have been taking to social media platforms for clarity on the exams and result date.
