Manav Rachna, AICTE-ATAL Academy host faculty development programme on sustainability, climate change

NEW DELHI : The Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy hosted a six-day faculty development programme on ‘Greener Horizons: Energy Efficiency, Sustainability, and Climate Change Solutions.’
The FDP sessions covered themes such as – AI in climate solutions, modeling for predictive change, sustainable urban development, and the application of greener fuels in sustainability. Through these discussions and workshops, participants gained knowledge of technology and its role in advancing sustainability initiatives.
The online programme was organised by the department of computer science and engineering, school of engineering and technology (SET), MRIIRS. The programme was attended by educators, researchers, and professionals from across 30+ institutions across the country. Experts from both India and abroad were present.
Six day faculty development programme
Over six days many experts shared their perspectives. Sayed Zeeshan Ali D and Edward S Mason Fellow from Harvard University, spoke about integrating climate considerations into macroeconomic policymaking. Bharat Dahiya the director of the research center for sustainable development and innovation at Thammasat University Bangkok addressed climate action for resilience and sustainability in global cities.
The assistant professor at Universidad de Tarapacá Chile presented on geospatial technology for environmental sustainability, while KP Singh and Narender Kumar the directors at Geo Solutions, shared real-world applications of geospatial data analytics.
"Other guest speakers included Sonia Behl the director of category management at GeM, ministry of commerce, Ihtiram Raza Khan the director and academician at Jamia Hamdard Delhi, and Mandeep Kaur the professor at Bennett University, discussed AI-powered smart city infrastructure and climate resilience," the Manav Rachna statement said.
Pardeep Kumar the pro vice-chancellor and dean of SET, MRIIRS, emphasized the importance of sustainability in education and research and said: “ Climate change and sustainability are among the most pressing challenges of our time. This program equips educators with advanced knowledge and interdisciplinary tools to integrate sustainability concepts into their teaching and research to contribute meaningfully to a greener future.”
“Mamta Dahiya the head of the department, CSE, and Deepa Bura, professor, CSE and ATAL FDP coordinator, played key roles in curating the program’s sessions, ensuring a diverse range of expert insights on sustainability, AI applications, and climate resilience,” the Manav Rachna statement adds.
