Microsoft launches internship programme to upskill 1.5 lakh students: Report

NEW DELHI: Microsoft India has initiated an internship programme, Future Ready Talent programme that will upskill 1.5 lakh students in their second year of college and upwards, as per a Livemint report.

The programme will provide technology skills for employability and impact 1.5 lakh youngsters who will get employment between the years 2022 and 2024, the report said. The registration for the programme has begun at - futurereadytalent.in.

The programme includes partners like the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), FutureSkills Prime, Ernst & Young (EY), GitHub, and Quess Corp which will offer skills and link talent with opportunities, the report said.

Through its learning platform, Microsoft Learn, the company will upskill the students in areas such as cloud computing, data and artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

AICTE will ensure that the course is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the report said.

The Nasscom's Sector Skills Council will align relevant courses to the National Occupational Standards, connecting these courses on FutureSkills Prime, the report added.

While Ernst and Young will provide industry and technology mentorship to students, GitHub will offer students with developer tools through the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Students will also get an opportunity to work on GitHub projects with other GitHub developers, the report further said.

Quess Corp will manage the learner experience and organise a virtual career fair for participants, exposing them to career opportunities across the Microsoft customer and partner ecosystem, the report said.
