NEW DELHI: The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi, will start offering a two-year minor course on entrepreneurship for its BTech students.
The course, which will start from the academic year 2020-21, is available for students from their first year itself.
The institute said in a statement: “IIIT-Delhi is coming up with a new course Entrepreneurship Minor for B Tech students, with the intention of instilling the entrepreneurial spirit in the students. This course is designed to equip students with the entrepreneurship competency, business acumen and entrepreneurial vision needed to become job creators."
Entrepreneurship courses
Similar entrepreneurship courses are present in multiple engineering institutions. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, for instance, has an eight-week certificate course called Startup BaseCamp 101 .
Introduced in 2018 and offered by the Department of Management Students, it is open to students in their final year but also to outsiders who fill a form and clear an interview. Meanwhile, IIT Kharagpur offers a five-year integrated dual degree programme with an Mtech in engineering entrepreneurship and Btech in any engineering discipline.
Most recently, a number of Indian Institutes of Management and IITs came together to form a consortium that will set up an ‘Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship in India Network’ that will both boost entrepreneurship as well as study the efforts toward it.
