Questions in the JEE Mains 2026 January 28 shift 2 were mostly statement-based. The Mathematics section was lengthy, while Chemistry was balanced and Physics was formula-based.
The testing agency conducted the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 for engineering aspirants on January 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28. The January 28 exam will be held for BArchitecture and BPlanning admissions in dual shifts.
The JEE Mains 2026 session 1 results will be declared by February 12, as per the official statement.

JEE Mains 2026 January 28 Shift 2 analysis
Mathematics
The overall difficulty level of the Mathematics section was moderate and had lengthy questions. “Several questions needed careful calculation, which made proper time management very important,” as per students’ reactions.
As compared to Chemistry and Physics, the Mathematics part was the toughest. However, the shift 2 difficulty level was easier than the morning shift.
Questions in the Mathematics section included topics such as
- 3 Questions from Vector Algebra and Three-Dimensional Geometry
- 4 Question from Integral Calculus
- Question from the Differential equation
- 1 Question from Coordinate Geometry
- 1 Question from Limit, Continuity, and Differentiability.
- 1 Question from Probability
Physics
The JEE Mains 2026 January 28 shift 2 Physics paper was easy in overall difficulty level in comparison to the shift 1 paper.
“The Physics paper was easy with respect to the maths and chemistry papers. Physics subjects was formula based with easy calculation,” as per the analysis report.
Physics section included questions from the following topics:
- 2-3 questions from modern physics
- 2 questions from Ray optics (Topic - Bifocal lens)
- 2 questions from electrostatics
- 2 questions from current electricity (Topic - 1 from Wheatstone Bridge)
Chemistry
The analysis of the Chemistry section in the JEE Mains 2026 January 28 shift 2 paper states that the difficulty level was moderate, and the shift 2 paper was easy as compared to shift 1 exam.
The Chemistry paper was easy against maths and difficult as per the physics section. The paper has more statement-based and lengthy integer-type questions

- 1 question from Ionic Equilibrium (Buffer Solution)
- 2 questions from Coordination Compounds
- 1 question from Amines
