UGC extends application deadline for HEIs recognition to offer ODL,OL programmes till June 15
The duly certified hard copy of the application, along with the original affidavit and annexure should reach the UGC, Delhi office by June 30.

NEW DELHI: The University Grant Commission (UGC) has extended the deadline for eligible Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to submit applications for recognition to provide programs through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online modes for the academic year 2024-25. The academic session, which was initially set for July-August 2024, will now commence in September 2024 onwards.
Higher education institutions (HEIs) will now be able to register until June 15 to offer programs through ODL and Online modes. The previous deadline for ODL course registration was May 31, 2024.
Registration for ODL Programmes: Submission of hard copies
As per the UGC official notice, the duly certified hard copy of the application, along with the original affidavit and annexure, should reach the Deputy Secretary, Distance Education Bureau, at the following address: UGC, 35, Feroze Shah Road, New Delhi—110001, by June 30, 2024.
HEI recognition status and prohibited courses
The current status of whether higher education institutions (HEIs) is recognized to offer programs through Open and Distance Learning mode and Online mode on the UGC website at deb.ugc.ac.in.
The UGC has previously identified courses that cannot be pursued through online and ODL modes. When seeking admission, UGC has asked candidates to verify that they are not enrolling in any of these prohibited courses.
The UGC notice read, “Students must confirm the recognition status of HEI for offering ODL and Online education for the session opted for admission on UGC DEB website, check the details on the HEls websites, take note of prohibited programmes and prohibition of franchising arrangement and ensure that all activities are being conducted within Territorial Jurisdiction for ODL Programmes”.
