#WakeUpSEBAASHEC: Students demand cancellation of Assam Board Class 10, 12 exams

NEW DELHI: Students of High School Leaving Certification Examination (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (Class 12) are continuously demanding to cancel Assam Board exams 2021. They have also started a campaign on Twitter using hashtags like #CancelAssamBoardExams and #WakeUpSEBAASHE to register their protest.
While demanding the cancellation of the 10th and 12th state board exam 2021, a twitter user said, “We want safety and nothing more than that.”

Assam Congress President Ripun Bora also came forward in support of cancelling the SEBA board exam 2021 for Class 10 and 12. He requested the government to immediately formulate a mechanism or an evaluation scheme in line with the CBSE's internal assessment.
He tweeted, “When several states have cancelled their state boards, what is @mygovassam waiting for? Wrote a letter to CM @himantabiswa in the backdrop of #CancelAssamBoardExams Let's hope that the decision will be in the favour of our dear students.”

Students have also requested the board to evaluate the results by using other methods. “This is not the time to hold offline exams. Even if they are of shorter time period the risk is the same. Please go for other methods, we don’t want to waste our academic year. Those who are unhappy with the results can be given a chance later.”

The Assam board decided to postpone the Assam SEBA HSLC and AHSEC HS board exams until further notice on May 4, 2021. The final decision on Assam board exams 2021 is yet to be announced.
On April 16, the CBSE and ICSE had cancelled Class 12 and 10 exams after a meeting was held with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following which several other state boards including Tamil Nadu, UP Board, MP Board, Rajasthan boards have cancelled the exams.
