The 2026 AI and IT papers reflected CBSE’s continued emphasis on competency-based education. Questions were designed to assess conceptual clarity, logical reasoning, and practical application of knowledge. Rather than testing rote definitions, the paper encouraged analytical responses and structured writing. Educators observed that the balanced distribution of marks across sections ensured fair weightage to all units. The Information Technology (IT) exam was reported to be student-friendly and aligned closely with the prescribed syllabus. Experts noted that the objective section tested core areas such as Employability Skills, LibreOffice tools, DBMS fundamentals, and workplace safety. The descriptive questions assessed communication skills, ICT applications, and database management concepts. Students appreciated that the questions were largely direct and situation-based, requiring clarity of thought. Teachers believe that candidates who practised sample papers would have found the format familiar and manageable within the allotted time.

The CBSE Class 10 Artificial Intelligence paper was widely described as “thoughtfully designed” and well-structured by both students and subject experts. According to educators, the question paper maintained a balanced mix of theory, employability skills, and analytical thinking components. The 4-mark questions based on concepts like Bag of Words and Confusion Matrix were considered direct and scoring for well-prepared candidates. Most MCQs were application-oriented, pushing students to apply understanding rather than rely on memorisation. Compared to last year, this year’s paper was slightly more student-friendly, according to subject experts.

Theory-based questions emphasised fundamentals, file handling, and practical understanding rather than overly technical coding.

Most candidates described the paper as falling within the easy-to-moderate bracket. There were no surprise elements, and questions were largely from expected units.

Initial reactions indicate the paper followed the prescribed blueprint closely. Students reported that the structure mirrored sample papers, making it easier to navigate section-wise.

The head of director Computer Science at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida Shilpi Arora said that the paper followed the prescribed syllabus and exam pattern. Mostly, the questions competency-based and focused on practical understanding of the topics. She said: Overall, the difficulty level was moderate and paper was scoring.”

A student from Witty International School, Bhilwara said: “The IT paper was easy, and I was able to complete it comfortably within the given time.”

He said based on the overall pattern, strong results are expected, with many students likely to achieve excellent scores.

Another student who appeared for the 10th CBSE exam for IT said that the Section B included 2-mark and 4-mark subjective questions, among which two questions were "unclear". The entire syllabus was adequately covered, which ensured balanced weightage to all units. However, most of the students found Section A easier compared to Section B.

CBSE Class 10 IT Board Exam 2026 was "balanced and student-friendly." Most of the MCQ's and subjective questions were direct and situation-based, while short and long-answer questions tested conceptual clarity, another subject expert said.

As per subject experts' 4-mark questions, particularly based on Bag of Words and Confusion Matrix, were considered "scoring and straightforward". Additionally, most of the MCQs were application-based and encouraged conceptual understanding rather than rote learning.

According to subject experts, all questions in the CBSE AI 10th paper were strictly based on the syllabus and were easy to attempt. The question paper was "thoughtfully designed, well-balanced, and appropriately structured" without being lengthy.

CBSE has decided to make APAAR IDs compulsory for students while submitting their board examination registration forms. Students can appear for the Phase 2 exams under the following conditions:

• Candidates who passed after replacing a failed main subject with a vocational or skill subject.

• Students who missed Phase 1 due to participation in national or international sports events.

Students must follow these important exam day rules:

• Reach the exam centre at least 45 to 60 minutes before the exam begins.

• Entry will not be allowed after the gates close.

• Students must remain seated until the exam concludes and the final bell rings.

• Sharing stationery or discussing answers inside the exam hall is strictly prohibited.

CBSE has implemented an on-screen marking system for evaluating Class 12 board examination answer sheets. However, it has specified that Class 10 answer scripts will continue to be evaluated using the conventional physical marking process.

Before the official start of the evaluation process, the first day will be dedicated to familiarising examiners with the marking scheme, carrying out sample assessments to reduce variations in scoring, and training teachers to efficiently use the digital evaluation platform.

CBSE will design competency-based assessments for its skill subjects in alignment with the standards of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The revised penalties for CBSE Board exams 2026 are as follows:

If a candidate is found using unfair means in any subject, their result for that subject will be cancelled. The cancelled subject cannot be substituted with marks from a sixth or seventh subject for the purpose of declaring a pass.

In such cases, the candidate will be placed in the compartment category and must reappear for the concerned subject.
