CBSE said that no project work or internal assessment will be held for subjects that do not have practical components. In such cases, marks for project or internal assessment will be computed pro-data based on the student’s marks in the theory paper.
CBSE-affiliated schools have also been advised to ensure availability of internal examiners. If subject teachers are not available at the examination centre, schools must appoint qualified teachers from nearby CBSE-affiliated institutions.
“The Practical Answer Books supplied by the Regional Offices are to be used for the conduct of the Practical Examination. It is to be ensured that the Examiners complete all entries in Practical Answer Books carefully and correctly,” CBSE added.
The CBSE Class 12 practical exams 2026 will be held at exam centres or schools fixed for the theory examinations , according to CBSE’s official notification.
“The Regional Directors/Officers will appoint External Examiners for all students of Class-XII. The Internal examiners shall be appointed by the Centre superintendent from their own school teachers,” the official statement states.
Notably, students who appeared for the Class 12 practical board exams in 2025 and 2024, but whose marks are unavailable due to repetition, absence in practical or theory exams, or other valid reasons, are eligible to appear for the CBSE Class 12 practical board exams for the academic session 2026-27.
“Students of 2023 and before, who have applied in full subjects in Private Category in their respective practical subject(s), will also appear,” CBSE said.
