CBSE Result 2025: Board says competency-based questions ‘yielded results’ as pass rate improves

The CBSE Board introduced the competency-based questions only for Class 12 students, however, Class 10 students claimed after the final exams that the question paper had competency-based questions. The board said that the change in pattern was brought about to help students prepare better for the exam.
To help navigate through the shift in exam pattern, the CBSE board said it uploaded sample question papers for all subjects and model practice questions well in advance on the official website, cbse.gov.in. Additionally, teachers were provided with training, and the CBSE Class 10, 12 date sheet was issued three months before the exam.

“All efforts have yielded results in the form of improving the results. This year, the pass percentage of students in class XIl is 88.39%, which is better than the pass students were of last year i.e. 87.98% of the 2024 examination. This shows that students were well prepared for competency-based question papers,” it said while announcing the CBSE results 2025 .
Fifty percent competency-focused questions include multiple-choice questions (MCQs), case-study based questions, source-based integrated questions among others. The remaining 20% was select response type questions and 30% consisted of short, long-answer type questions.
