Delhi SoSE admissions: Results announced; 2,794 students get admission

SoSE announced results today for 14,245 students who appeared for test for taking admissions in Class 9 and 11. The admission process will begin on September 13.

NEW DELHI: 2,794 students have been offered admissions in STEM, humanities, and high-end 21st-century skills schools under Delhi Schools of Specialised Excellence (SoSEs). The SoSEs announced results on Saturday, according to an official statement. Students can check their results on the official website of SoSE - edudel.nic.in/sose. The admission process will commence on Monday.

Around 26,687 students registered for the four types of SoSEs - science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); humanities; performing and visual arts; and high-end 21st century skills.

“Auditions for the Performing and Visual Arts schools are going on and will finish on September 13. Final results for Performing and Visual Arts schools will be announced early next week,” the official statement said.

While in the STEM schools, admissions are begin given in Classes 9 and 11, the other schools will have students only for Class 9.

SoSE admissions

The Delhi Government started admissions for 20 SoSEs affiliated to Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) in partnership with International Baccalaureate (IB) for the 2021-22 session on August 12.

The admissions have been given on the basis of an aptitude test which was conducted from August 27 to August 31 at 67 test centres. Around 14,245 students appeared for the test.

While 960 students have been offered admission in Class 9, 814 candidates have been selected for Class 11 in eight STEM schools, as per the official notification.

On the other hand, 420 and 600 students have been admitted to five humanities and five high-end 21st century skills, respectively.

“Close to two-third of the selected students are from government & government aided schools while the rest are from recognized private schools,” the official statement added.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia congratulated the students and parents, and said: ““In the SoSEs, the role of the teachers is going to change, and he/she will become a facilitator of learning for every student. Gradually, all the schools in Delhi will follow this model and adopt a learner-centric education system”.
