DTU launches integrated BSc-MSc in DS and applied statistics, BTech-MS courses; admission via CUET scores

The Delhi Technological University (DTU) has launched two integrated BSc-MSc programmes in data science and applied statistics, and 4+1 accelerated BTech-MS programme in collaboration with the University of Houston. DTU has also launched a double major track in economics for engineering students to promote interdisciplinary and relevant education.

Last year, DTU launched the Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (CTEL) and through CTEL three online courses for working professionals in artificial intelligence, corporate sustainability (CSR and ESG), and renewable and sustainable energy management have been launched.

“These programmes provide students with hands-on training in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor design, renewable energy. biotechnology, railway signalling, and chip verification,” the official DTU press release said.

Admission in DTU via CUET

Admission to BA economics (hons) and BBA, new data science (DS) and applied statistics programmes will be based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores , conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), once a year.

All the new courses launched are designed with multiple entry and exit options, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), DTU said.

Quantum technology, geo-informatics course launch

The Delhi Technological University has planned to launch a BTech quantum technology course in the physics department and geo-informatics. DTU has received a Rs 1 crore grant from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to establish an undergraduate laboratory in quantum technologies.

Last year, DTU received an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) fund of Rs 3 crore. The university was also granted 40 patents.

DTU: BTech CSE, MSc psychology courses

DTU has also planned to launch a BTech in computer science and engineering (CSE) and mechanical sciences (MS) programme soon. By 2027, the university aims to integrate the component of rural development in all BTech courses offered.

“The focus will be on rural technology to address the issues in rural areas. The idea is to provide frugal solutions to rural areas,” a DTU official added.

Furthermore, DTU also has a centre of science and happiness, and 36 scholars are working on getting more trained in psychology. DTU’s principal has approved starting an MSc programme in psychology.
