IIIT Bangalore inaugurates K-VLSI PG diploma cohort 2; 144 students selected

IIIT Bangalore: The K-VLSI PG programme received over 3,000 applications from across 40 cities and students were selected based on written exam and interviews.
NEW DELHI : The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bangalore inaugurated the K-VLSI PG diploma cohort 2, and welcomed 144 students from over 60 engineering colleges. The programme received over 3,000 applications from across 40 cities. The students were selected after a screening process, including a written exam and an interview round.
The IIIT Bangalore’s K-VLSI PG diploma programme allows students to pursue a PG diploma along with the eighth semester of engineering graduation to ensure they are industry ready.
The K-VLSI PG diploma is led by IIIT Bangalore’s MINRO center in collaboration with KDEM, India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL), and the IT-BT department, government of Karnataka.
The partnership ensures students receive training, bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands.

The inauguration programme was attended by B V Naidu the chairman of Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM); Debabrata Das the director of IIIT-Bangalore; Chandrashekar Ramanathan, the dean of academics at IIIT B; and Madhav Rao associate professor and HoD, ECE department at IIIT-B.
"The speakers highlighted the programme’s pivotal role in nurturing next-generation semiconductor professionals and strengthening India’s VLSI and semiconductor ecosystem," the IIIT Bangalore statement said.
Debabrata Das, the director of IIIT Bangalore said: “Following the success of KVLSI cohort-1 in developing industry-ready semiconductor talent, cohort-2 is poised to set an even higher benchmark. This initiative, supported by the Government of Karnataka, IT-BT Department, and KDEM, and conducted in collaboration with industry partner FutureWiz, offers a unique, hands-on learning experience. By integrating industry-driven training and expert mentorship, the program is shaping young professionals of the state of Karnataka to excel in the rapidly evolving semiconductor sector.”
