The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has started accepting applications for the third batch of its undergraduate programme, BBA in digital business and entrepreneurship (DBE). The course is offered in an online format, making it accessible to students across the country.

Candidates can apply through the official programme website of IIM Bangalore DBE at dbe.iimb.ac.in, with the last date set for June 30, 2026.

With careers and organisations evolving rapidly due to new technologies, shifting business models, and the rise of startups, the programme is designed to equip students for a landscape where management skills need to be applied in dynamic, real-world situations. In India, undergraduate courses that bring together these elements in a well-rounded and structured way are still relatively few.

IIM Bangalore programme attracts students nationwide

The BBA (DBE) programme at IIM Bangalore has seen a strong response since its launch. In its first two batches, it has attracted over 2,000 learners from more than 400 cities across 29 states.

The latest batch reflects a diverse mix, with about 25.1% of students coming from Tier 3 cities. The age range is equally varied, spanning from 17 to 50 years, including students who are pursuing other degrees or managing work alongside the programme.

Suresh Bhagavatula, Chairperson, BBA (DBE), and faculty of the Entrepreneurship area, IIMB said, “At IIM Bangalore, our effort with the BBA in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship is to democratize access to high-quality management education without diluting rigour. While the programme is delivered online, it is designed to be academically demanding and deeply practical. We are looking for motivated learners who value the flexibility of the format and are willing to put in the sustained effort that a rigorous IIM Bangalore education demands.”

IIM Bangalore curriculum emphasises practical, real-world learning

The curriculum is designed to go beyond textbooks, combining core concepts with practical exposure. Students learn directly from IIM Bangalore faculty and take part in live projects, assignments, and peer learning activities.

Subjects range from digital marketing and big data analytics to UI/UX design and emerging business models. The idea is to help students connect theory with real-world application while building strong academic discipline.

A key highlight is the emphasis on “learning by doing”. Students work on projects and venture-building exercises such as the ‘Rs 250 venture’, where they experiment with ideas and understand customer needs. The programme currently supports nearly 200 student-led startups across areas like tech, sustainability, consulting, and e-commerce.

IIM Bangalore strengthens peer network and industry exposure

Even though the programme is online, IIM Bangalore has created several ways for students to connect and collaborate. These include learning groups, student-led communities, city meet-ups, and on-campus immersion events.

There are also opportunities to interact with startup founders and industry professionals through initiatives like ‘Shadow a Startup Founder’ and demo-style presentations. These experiences give students a closer look at how businesses are actually built and run.

Students from the programme have gone on to secure internships and roles with organisations such as McKinsey & Company, KPMG, Wipro, and the Reserve Bank of India, highlighting its growing industry relevance.
