PM Modi in his speech reiterated that the NEP focuses on what the 21st century education sector needs. NEP brings light to the regional languages and will push teachers to teach them.

“I consider the new education policy a means to fight against poverty. Today, the country has a new ‘National Education Policy’ to meet the needs of the 21st century,” said prime minister Narendra Modi in his address on Independence Day 2021.

He further added that this policy has a special provision for sports and they are no longer considered extracurricular activities but a part of the curriculum.

PM Modi said that sports continue to be a part of the most effective means to move forward in life. The Indian contingent to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 had been invited to Red Fort.

On the one-year anniversary of the National Education Policy in July PM Modi launched initiatives such as Academic Bank of Credit , Vidya Pravesh - 3-month school entry module for Class 1, Indian sign language as a second language subject in secondary education, NISHTHA 2 for teacher training, SAFAL, CBSE assessment framework, National Digital Educational Architecture, National Education Technology Forum, and others.

He also said, “Now, the government has decided that Sainik Schools in the country will also be open for the daughter of the country.”
