National Medical Commission (NMC) asks medical colleges, institutions to submit admissions, stipend payment information on online monitoring system.
NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all medical colleges and institutions to submit the information regarding admissions and stipend payment through an online system accessible through NMC website -- nmc.org.in, in order to ensure that admissions are made adhering to the NMC regulations, thereby promoting transparency and accountability in medical education.
NMC instruction has been released in the backdrop of allegations that certain private medical colleges are not adhering to the NMC Act while giving admissions in postgraduate courses, and not paying adequate stipends to junior resident doctors.
According to the instructions from NMC sent to heads of medical institutions and colleges, the institutions are not required to send the hard copies of student admissions will not be accepted by NMC. Only the data uploaded through the student admission entry portal will be used for monitoring students' admission to PG courses. The medical institutions are mandated to submit the admission details of postgraduate students within two days of the last date of admission of the candidates. If the medical college or institution does not upload the information within the deadline, it will be reflected on the recommendation to be made by NMC for grant of recognition to the college or institution, said a statement from NMC.

Medical institutions and colleges are mandated to update details such as course name, intake capacity, admission date, details of students, NEET score and rank, and stipend. The name of the PG teacher under whom the student has been admitted has to be also shared with NMC.
