SoSEs begin classes for 2200 students; Sisodia announces September 27 as Foundation Day

NEW DELHI: The Schools of Specialised Excellence (SoSEs) have commenced classes today, September 27, for around 2200 students admitted through aptitude tests held from August 27 to August 31 whose results were announced on September 11. The Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that September 27 will be celebrated as SoSE Foundation Day.

Sisodia did a live interaction from SoSE , Kalkaji with the students and parents of all 20 SoSEs.

Of the 14,245 students who appeared for the aptitude tests, around 2200 students have been admitted for the streams - science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), humanities, performing and visual arts and high-end 21st century skills.

Replying to a student’s question regarding future pathways after studying from SoSEs , Sisodia said: “Today, I want to assure the SoSE students and their parents that irrespective of the careers students will choose, they will have immense belief in themselves. And this is what SoSEs will prepare them for.”

Each SoSE welcomed the students and organised interactive sessions with the experts such as Kunal Mundra (India CEO, Cars24), Bharti Singhla (COO, Chakr Innovation), Suresh Kumar (MD, LNJP Hospital), Arjun Sagar Gupta (Founder, Piano Man Jazz Club), Sunita Singh (Dean, Ambedkar University), Dr Jyoti Kumar (Professor of Design, IIT Delhi), Gautham Mukundan (Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax) and school alumni.

Manish Sisodia congratulated admitted students and their parents and said: “Marks shouldn’t be the only criteria for a student’s success. In this uncertain world, a student’s ability to think new and creative is what will set him or her apart from others. Covid has shown us that the future world is going to be very uncertain. Hence our students should be prepared to solve the challenges, which haven’t even arisen yet.”

The Delhi Government started admissions for 20 SoSEs affiliated to Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) in partnership with International Baccalaureate (IB) for the 2021-22 session on August 12.
