"The Aadhaar-enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) will be introduced across all government-funded and state-sponsored skill development training centres," as per an official notification.
AGARTALA: The Tripura government has made biometric attendance mandatory from August 1 for all trainees attending government-sponsored skill development courses, an official said on Monday. The government, in a notification issued recently, also stated that trainees must achieve a minimum of 70 per cent biometric attendance to become eligible for the final assessment.
The requirement was earlier 50 per cent for PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana) 4.0 courses. "The Aadhaar-enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) will be introduced across all government-funded and state-sponsored skill development training centres.
The new system will apply to both ongoing and future training programmes ," Skill Development Department Director Pradeep K told PTI. The move has been taken in accordance with Clause 6 of the PMKVY 4.0 scheme guidelines, which mandates biometric attendance for all skill development trainees, he said.
Release of funds for skill courses depends on attendance records
"Under the revised guidelines, trainees, trainers and assessors will be required to record their attendance daily through the AEBAS portal during training and assessment sessions," he said.
The official said the government has also made it clear that the release of funds to training centres will depend entirely on attendance records generated through the biometric system. "Financial assistance will only be provided to those training programmes where biometric attendance has been properly recorded, preserved and submitted," he said.
The official stated the Aadhaar-linked attendance system will ensure a transparent, tamper-proof and time-stamped record of attendance, making verification easier for monitoring agencies and evaluators.
"To facilitate the rollout, all training centres have been instructed to install approved biometric devices, appoint nodal officers and IT coordinators, ensure uninterrupted internet connectivity and complete the registration of trainees and trainers on the attendance portal," he added.
