CM Youth Training Scheme: Maharashtra govt extends training duration from 6 to 11 months

NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra government has announced an extension of the training period under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana (MYKPY) from six months to 11 months. This decision was taken during the cabinet meeting held on March 2, aiming to enhance the employability of youth by providing extended practical training opportunities.

According to the official government notice, candidates who have already completed their six-month training will now have the opportunity to extend their training for an additional five months.

The Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana was launched in July 2024 to enhance the employability of youth in Maharashtra by providing practical training in various industries, startups, and government establishments. Under the scheme, candidates receive a monthly stipend through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) based on their educational qualifications:

  • Class 12 pass: Rs 6,000 per month

  • ITI, diploma holders: Rs 8,000 per month

  • Graduates, postgraduates: Rs 10,000 per month

As per the official website, the government has allocated a budget of Rs 5,500 crore to implement the scheme, targeting 10 lakh job training opportunities every year.

CMYKPY: Eligibility and registration process

The scheme is open to candidates aged 18 to 35 years. Candidates are required to be residents of Maharashtra. Candidates are required to have passed at least Class 12, ITI, diploma, graduation, or post-graduation to be eligible. Interested candidates will be able to apply by visiting the official website- cmykpy.mahaswayam.gov.in. Additionally, industries and establishments in Maharashtra may also register on the same portal to offer training opportunities.

Companies offering training are required to ensure they have been operational for at least three years and registered with EPF, ESIC, GST, DPIT, and Udyog Aadhaar.

Document submission

According to the official notice, establishments and candidates under the scheme are given 30 days from the date of resolution to submit the required documents on the official portal, cmykpy.mahaswayam.gov.in.

The assistant commissioner of skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship will be responsible for verifying these documents. As per the government’s guidelines, both candidates and establishments are required to submit self-declaration certificates within 15 days of the candidate’s joining date. This is to ensure transparency and fair practice.

The candidate’s declaration is required to confirm that:

  • They have never worked in the same establishment before.
  • They have no family relationship with the employer.

The establishments are also required to submit a declaration confirming the candidate has never previously worked in any of their offices. Both certificates are required to be submitted to the assistant commissioner of skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship at the district facilitation center.

Post-training employment and monthly counseling

The government has instructed establishments to make efforts to employ candidates after their training period ends. Establishments are required to submit a post-training employment report to the district facilitation Center.

Additionally, monthly counseling sessions will be conducted at Industrial Training Centers (ITIs) to provide career guidance to the trainees. The Assistant Commissioner will oversee these sessions.

Upon completion of the training period, establishments are required to update the candidate's profile on the official portal to keep the database of trained manpower up to date. The commissioner of skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship will ensure that this feature is available on the portal within one week.
