Download NowThe University of Delhi (DU) hosted an inauguration ceremony for its new hostel cum residential block under the Institution of Eminence. The new project, estimated at Rs 332.83 crore, aims to provide modern residential facilities for 1,436 students at the Dhaka complex in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar.

According to the official DU statement, vice chancellor Yogesh Singh, who was the chief guest at the 'Bhoomi Poojan' ceremony, said the hostel would be constructed on a 29,445 square meter plot and rise to 35 meters with nine floors above the ground floor (G+9).
Notably, the boy's hostel will have 58 single residences, 220 triple residences, and 38 married or en-suite accommodations, whereas the girls' hostel will have a similar number of residences, allowing each block to accommodate 718 students.
"The building will offer state-of-the-art facilities for students, enhancing their residential experience while meeting international standards of comfort and safety," DU's vice chancellor said.

At the ceremony, KP Mahadevaswamy, the chairman and managing director (CMD) of National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC), was the guest of honour, and other guests included Balram Pani, the dean of colleges; Rajni Abbi the director of South Campus; Vikas Gupta the registrar; Anoop Lather the chairperson of the Cultural Council; Ashok Saini the chief engineer; and officials from NBCC and Sam India Builtwell Pvt Ltd.
Furthermore, the new hostel is part of DU's initiative to improve the infrastructure under its Institution of Eminence status and offer better living conditions for students. The project reflects the university's commitment to provide modern, high-quality residential facilities while focusing on academic growth and cultural engagement.
