The Mechanical Engineering (ME), Petroleum Engineering (PE), and Architecture and Planning (AR) exams will be conducted in shift 1, whereas the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper will be held in shift 2.
Candidates appearing for the exam today must carry their GATE 2025 admit card along with a valid government ID such as Aadhaar-UID (preferred), Aadhaar Virtual ID, Government-issued ID, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driving License.
The GATE 2025 exam is scheduled to be conducted on February 1, 2, 15, and 16. It is held annually for candidates seeking admission to master's programmes offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. Additionally, GATE 2025 scores will be used by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment purposes.

According to the GATE question paper pattern 2025, the examination will test candidates’ general aptitude GA) and selected subjects. The question paper will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQ), multiple-select questions (MSQ) and/or numerical answer type (NAT) questions.

A good score in GATE 2025 depends on the exam difficulty level, cut-offs, and the institute or PSU. A GATE score of 80+ is considered good for IIT MTech admissions and top PSU recruitment.

The GATE 2025 exam follows a negative marking scheme for multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There will be no negative marking for multiple-select questions (MSQ) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. However, negative marks will be deducted for incorrect answers to MCQ questions. For a 1-mark MCQ question, 1/3 mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer, while for a 2-mark MCQ question, 2/3 mark will be deducted.
