MP Assembly Elections 2023: Congress promises new universities, state education policy

NEW DELHI : Congress has promised free school education, full exemption in exam fee for competitive exam candidates, formation of new universities, and state education policy for Madhya Pradesh assembly elections 2023. Congress president Kamal Nath released the party’s manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections.

For school education, the party also promised new state Navodaya schools with provisions of smart classes and computer labs, new Savitribai Phule girls schools on the lines of Kasturba Gandhi schools, and recruitment of Urdu, Sindhi, and Hindi teachers.

Talking about improving academic quality and system, the party said that history of great humans, environment conservation, traffic management, gardening will be introduced in school curriculum and hobby classes will be started for students.

Congress also promised to start “Padho aur Padhao Yojana” for economically weak students. Under the scheme, the fee for students will be Rs 500 for Classes 1 to 8, Rs 1,000 for Classes 9, 10, and Rs 1,500 for Classes 11 and 12.

For higher education, the party promised a new state education policy for which a committee will be formed and introduction of vocational courses to enhance employability of students. It also announced to open tribal university, women’s university, horticulture university, and Dr B R Ambedkar state law university if given power. For engineering colleges, it promised to start placement centres and career guides. Congress vowed to launch Rajiv Gandhi technological university in Gwalior and Rewa to improve technical education in the state,

Coming to medical education, the party promised to prepare a scheme for starting five new medical, dental, and nursing colleges in the state every year. It also made a promise to provide exemption to economically weaker students in government medical colleges.

For youth of the state, Congress promised to form a law for government recruitment, filling of 2 lakh government posts, creation of two to four posts in Gram Panchayat, 100 exemption in exam fee for competitive exam candidates, filling of pending recruitment, starting of digital university, and financial assistance of Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 for the unemployed.
